Wastewater and public health are interconnected. Wastewater treatment is vital to a healthy community, and the presence of pathogens and pharmaceutical compounds in wastewater can tell public health experts about community health. Join experts from Madison Metropolitan Sewerage District and the Wisconsin State Laboratory of Hygiene to learn about the connection between wastewater and local health initiatives. You’ll learn how wastewater monitoring can help identify outbreaks of diseases like COVID-19, and how pharmaceutical monitoring can help communities take action to protect human and environmental health.
