Tree planting at Lake View Hill County Park

Event Dates

  • Saturday, 05/07/2022 8:30 a.m. - 1:00 p.m.
  • Saturday, 05/21/2022 9:00 a.m. - 12:00 p.m.

Event Description

Please join the Friends of Lake View Hill for a day of planting and caging of bare root red oaks as part of oak savannah restoration. Come make a beautiful park even better! Plant for the future!

Members of the Friends of Lake View Hill will work with volunteers to plant 100 small trees at pre-marked areas on the park's western edge. This area was recently thinned of invasive species to reduce competition and undergrowth to allow for good sunlight and growth. Crews of 3-4 will work to properly plant and protect the new trees from root drying and browsing from deer.

Please dress appropriately: work shoes and gloves are advised. Tools provided but bring a good shovel if you can! Please arrive at 8:30 am for introductions, a quick "how to" demonstration, distribution of tools, and formation of planting teams. Families welcome - this day will be a great way to spend time outdoors with children. Join us on Facebook at: https://www.facebook.com/lakeviewhill/
