Event Description

Join the Friends of Capital Springs Recreation area for a woodland walk community science event to identify wildflowers and and post observations to the iNaturalist app. We will start with a half-hour orientation and practice time using iNaturalist. Then we will take a walk – led by expert naturalists – to identify wildflowers and post observations to the app.

The route is on unpaved trails with some hills, about 1 mile round trip.

Why you should join!

  • Learn about beautiful woodland spring wildflowers on Earth Day.
  • Experience the thrill of seeing new flowers after a long winter.
  • Learn how to use the iNaturalist app to identify and catalog wildflowers. It’s easy!
  • Help support woodland conservation.

Bring a smartphone with camera and mobile connection, drinking water, good walking shoes. In advance, download the iNaturalist app to your phone. For new users, consider reviewing the easy getting started page.

To sign up, please email Naturalist Clare at carlson.clare@countyofdane.com.

The event is limited to 30 attendees. All are welcome; youth under 16 must be accompanied by an adult.
