Bats in Stewart Park

Event Dates

  • Saturday, 08/17/2019 9:00 am - 12:00 pm

Event Description

An introduction to the diversity of Wisconsin bats will include a lecture and nature exhibit by Joe Senulis at 9 am at the Schoolhouse.  The lecture and exhibit sponsored by the Friends of Stewart Park will focus on bat ecology, habitats and habitat preservation.  This lecture and exhibit is free and open to anyone.  Following the lecture, you may make your own bat house to take home or donate to Stewart Park. The construction project will be to assemble the precut pieces of the house.  Why make a bat house for your yard to attract bats?  Bats eat lots of bothersome bugs and are the “night shift” of pollinators. It’s actually pretty simple to make a bat house.  Come and try it for yourself. Signup for the building workshop is required at https://jackie02170.wixsite.com/folkschool

Cost: $15 for those making a bat house, materials included.  Lecture and exhibit are free.

Minimum age: 6 years old for construction project.
