For Immediate Release May 31, 2007 From: Chris James Dane County Parks 608-224-3763 Dane County Parks To Begin Badger Prairie Park/Ice Age Junction Bicycle Pedestrian Trail Master Planning Process A master plan to remodel Badger Prairie County Park near Verona and to determine possible alignments for the pending Ice Age Junction Bicycle/Pedestrian Trail will begin this month with a public informational meeting led by Dane County Parks planning staff. “Badger Prairie County Park is situated in one of the fastest-growing areas of Dane County, between the cities of Madison and Verona,” Park Planner Chris James said of the popular park home to many uses including an aero modeling field, mountain biking, soccer fields and an off-leash dog exercise area. James cited the recently constructed Verona Library, proposed expansion of the Dane County Badger Prairie Health Care Facility near the park and the 2008 construction of the Ice Age Junction bicycle pedestrian trail are among the factors sure to impact the way the park will be used. There also are several prairie restorations in the park that provide volunteer seed collecting opportunities for school and youth groups each fall, James said. A public informational meeting to present a history of the park and existing park conditions, and to solicit public input concerning for possible changes will be held on Monday, June 11 at 7 p.m. The meeting will be held in Community Room A & B of the Verona Public Library located at 500 Silent Street.
