Malott said, “I encourage area residents to take advantage of this opportunity to learn the facts regarding the status and applicability of the Plan, its benefits and economic impact. It’s important that the input on the Plan we receive is not clouded by misinformation about its content and purpose.“
Malott said, “Those who are concerned about the health of our lakes and streams or who are worried about the impact of new rules on their property, should attend these meetings to receive accurate, up-to-date information on this Plan.”
The sessions are scheduled as follows:
Tues., Nov 17 – Verona Senior Center, 108 Paoli St, Verona, 7:00 – 9:00 p.m.
Wed., Nov. 18 - Sun Prairie City Office Community Room, 300 East Main St, Sun Prairie, 7:00-9:00 p.m.
Supervisor Patrick Miles, member of the Commission and chair of its Urban Runoff Committee that has been working closely with the Waterbody Classification staff team, said, " The Plan attempts to fill a critical gap by addressing impacts to our most vulnerable lakes, rivers and streams. At the same time the plan proposes to update our 30-year-old shoreland rules to offer property owners greater flexibility."
The Plan builds on the sound science and research of the Phase I Waterbody Classification Report, which classifies Dane County Waters into Urban, Developing and Rural categories, based on their physical characteristics and planned level of development.
