Effective Saturday, December 13, 2008, at 6:00 AM, all Dane County snowmobile trails will be closed.  This includes the Glacial Drumlin and Military Ridge Trails in Dane County.

Due to the anticipated warmer weather, trails are expected to deteriorate quickly, prompting Dane County Parks and the Dane County Council of Snowmobile Clubs to close trails.  “We’d like to save as much of our trail base as possible and hope for favorable weather to return later next week,” stated Paul Statz, President of Dane County Council of Snowmobile Clubs. Trails will reopen when there is at least (6) six inches of snow for a trail-base and steady temperatures below freezing.
