Land & Water Resources

There will be extended Tenney Lock hours for Shake the Lake on Saturday June 27th (Rain Date is set for Sunday June 28th) and for the Fourth of July Holiday weekend from July 3rd through July 6th.  The Tenney Lock allows access between Lake Mendota and Lake Monona on the Yahara River.

As a safety precaution a Slow-no-Wake Rule will be enforced on Lake Monona for the Shake the Lake Event. The Slow No Wake Rule will be in enforced from 8:00 p.m. until midnight on June 27th. Boaters are asked to operate at the minimum speed at which a motorized watercraft is able to move and maintain adequate steerage control.  For more information visit www.danewaters.com.

In addition, please be aware that there will be a large “No Entry” area strictly enforced surrounding the staging site for Shake the Lake at the West end of Lake Monona.  The area will be marked with warning buoys.

Boaters are encouraged to monitor weather conditions and familiarize themselves with direct access points to shelter along the lake shore.

Clearance height to travel through the Tenney Lock is currently at about 6-feet, however, there may be bridges between Lake Mendota and Lake Monona where the clearance height may be less than 6-feet.  The height will depend on the water elevation.
