Climate Initiatives

The Land & Water Resources Department coordinates with the Dane County Office of Energy & Climate Change and other county departments to implement science-based strategies identified in the Dane County Climate Action Plan. The plan and other initiatives work towards the creation of a climate-resilient and zero-carbon world through the following goals:

  • reduce greenhouse gas emissions
  • achieve net-zero carbon emissions by 2030 - Press Release
  • address climate change impacts

Tracking Progress on Benefits

Tracking Progress on Benefits

Improvements to natural resources provide ecosystem services or benefits to the environment and people. Our Ecosystem Services Initiative tracks benefits our projects have on the health of local watersheds. These benefits overlap with climate goals to reduce greenhouse gas emissions and improve flood resilience.
