Dane County has actively participated since 2010 in the statewide Clean Boats, Clean Waters program to prevent the spread of aquatic invasive species. Our inspectors work at several boat landings in the county, talking with boaters about the aquatic invasives prevention steps: 1) inspect boats, 2) remove plants, 3) drain all water from boat and equipment, and 4) never move plants or live fish away from a waterbody.
Look for Dane County's Aquatic Invasives Removal Stations, with tools to help you reach plants under your boats and trailers. Visit this Wisconsin Department of Natural Resources webpage for more about state invasive species requirements. Check out these statewide Clean Boats, Clean Waters training videos.
Data collected from Dane County is available on the DNR website.
