Event Description

Help the Friends of Donald Park work in a priority restoration area. Work varies seasonally. We work in teams, and no experience is necessary, just a love for the natural world and a desire to help out!

Spring: Invasive plants, along with our natives, have sprung out of the ground. We have scheduled four dates to tackle garlic mustard, with additional dates in late May and early June possible, depending on conditions. May is a particularly lovely time to be in the park—blossoming flowers, cool weather, and lots of birdsong! We will pull garlic mustard using hand tools and will not use herbicide, so the work is family friendly as well.

Winter: we have been eradicating invasive brush with hand tools in an oak savanna restoration area so that native plants can flourish.

If you can join us, please RSVP by Friday evening to the work-party leader, Liz McBride, at elizabeth-mcbride@sbcglobal.net by the Friday before the workday so we have enough tools on hand and she can contact you if we need to cancel.

What to bring: Water, also garden gloves and your favorite weeding tool if you have one. (We have both to lend out.) Wear long pants, long sleeves, and closed-toe shoes. Bring water. We’ll bring cookies.
